Shaken, Stirred, and Styled
Four Summer Cocktails With Design Personalities
When the summer heat is doing its best impression of a sauna, there’s nothing like a perfectly chilled cocktail to bring the temperature down—and your mood up.
The perfect drink is like the perfect room—balanced, well-proportioned, and styled with personality. This summer, let your cocktail be an extension of your design aesthetic.
PAPER PLANE
The Sophisticated Storyteller
Equal parts bourbon, Aperol, Amaro Nonino, and lemon juice, the Paper Plane is complex, balanced, and unexpected—like a library wrapped in moody wallcovering, punctuated with brass lighting and a vintage Persian rug. It’s the cocktail for evenings when the AC hums softly, the playlist is mellow, and the conversation gets delightfully deep.
INGREDIENTS
3/4 oz bourbon
3/4 oz Aperol
3/4 oz Amaro Nonino
3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
DIRECTIONS
Add the bourbon, Aperol, Amaro Nonino and lemon juice into a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled. Strain into a coupe glass. ENJOY!
Zero-proof version: Mix 1oz brewed black tea, 1oz of non-alcoholic Italian bitter apertif like Lyre’s Italian Orange, 1/2oz orange juice, 1/2oz herbal tea concentrate and 1oz fresh lemon juice. Shake with ice. Garnish with a lemon twist.
APEROL SPRITZ
The Social Butterly
Vibrant orange, effervescent bubbles, a slice of citrus—it’s as photogenic as a jewel-toned velvet sofa against crisp white walls. The Aperol Spritz belongs in a space made for entertaining: think bold artwork, airy balconies, and a curated mix of modern and vintage pieces. Its energy says, “Pull up a chair—there’s always room for one more.”
INGREDIENTS
Ice
3 oz Aperol
3 oz Prosecco
1 oz sparkling water
DIRECTIONS
Add ice to a wine glass until it is nearly full. Pour in the Aperol and Prosecco. Top your drink off with a splash of club soda. Add a slice of orange as a garnish and ENJOY!
Zero-proof version: Mix 3oz Lyre’s Italian Spritz (or something similar), 3oz sparkling grape juice and 1oz soda water in a wine glass over ice. Gently stir. Garnish with an orange slice.
COWBOY PALMER
The Modern Rustic
Half iced tea, half lemonade, and a spirited bourbon twist—it’s approachable but bold, just like a modern ranch interior. Picture wide-plank wood floors, leather club chairs, woven rugs, and a few contemporary art pieces to keep it fresh. It’s a drink made for porches at golden hour, with ceiling fans overhead and the scent of barbecue in the distance.
INGREDIENTS
ice
1 ½ oz bourbon
1 oz lemonade
1 oz unsweetened iced tea
DIRECTIONS
Fill your glass with ice and add whiskey, lemonade, and iced tea. Give it a stir, garnish with a sprig of mint and ENJOY!
Zero-proof version: Just skip the bourbon for a traditional and refreshing Arnold Palmer!
PALOMA
The Organic Minimalist
Grapefruit, tequila, a whisper of soda water… the Paloma is refreshingly simple, yet layered with subtle charm. This is the drink for a home filled with light, neutral tones, soft linen sofas, and terracotta accents. It’s unpretentious but intentional.
INGREDIENTS
2 oz tequila
2 oz fresh grapefruit juice, plus wedges for garnish
2 oz sparkling water
½ oz lime juice
¼ oz agave nectar or simple syrup, or to taste
Coarse sea salt, for the rim of the glasses

DIRECTIONS
Salt the rim of the glass. Pour all ingredients into the glass. Fill the remainder of the glass with ice. Adjust sweetness to taste. ENJOY!
Zero-proof version: Mix 2oz fresh grapefruit juice, 1/2oz fresh lime juice and 1/2oz agave syrup in a tall glass over ice. Stir gently and top with sparkling water or grapefruit tonic. Garnish with a grapefruit slice.
