Designer II
Britt Design Group, an award-winning interior design firm based in Austin, TX, is seeking candidates for a Designer II position within the Residential Design Studio.

This position reports to the Director of the Residential Design Studio and supports residential design projects through all phases of the design process. The Designer II takes ownership of significant portions of projects, collaborates directly with clients, consultants, and vendors, mentors junior designers, and supports project management efforts while helping deliver exceptional residential interiors. The ideal candidate brings strong technical proficiency, an in-depth understanding of the built environment, and the ability to confidently navigate residential construction documentation while transforming design ideas into thoughtful, buildable spaces. This role is ideal for an experienced designer who is passionate about creating elevated, livable spaces and is ready to take the next step in their career within a collaborative team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborates with design team to create concept boards, finish palettes, material selections, furniture specifications, and interior detailing.
Collaborate with the project team to develop design goals, space plans, and furnishing budgets.
Research and present product options, finish alternatives, and design solutions that align with the project vision and client goals.
Prepare client presentations, supporting visual storytelling throughout the design process.
Create, review, and revise construction drawings, elevations, specifications, and schedules using Revit.
Assist with construction administration, builder coordination, and resolving design-related questions during construction.
Manage vendor communication, sample coordination, pricing, procurement support, and proposal reviews.
Lead installations and site visits while coordinating vendors, consultants, and project logistics.
Communicate regarding project updates, design decisions, and day-to-day coordination.
Review Designer I work for accuracy and completeness while mentoring junior designers and supporting their professional growth.
Assist Project Managers and Directors with project scheduling, budgeting, documentation, and overall project coordination.
Attend team meetings and contribute to studio initiatives and continuous process improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture.
4+ years of professional experience in interior design. Residential design preferred.
Proficiency in Revit is required; AutoCAD experience is expected.
Experience with Lumion and/or Enscape is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Strong technical skills and a solid understanding of the built environment, including residential construction methods, detailing, and documentation.
Knowledge of Photoshop or other creative/design software is a plus.
Strong eye for detail, materials, interior detailing, and spatial planning.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and work independently.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with confidence interacting directly with clients, vendors, consultants, and builders.
Collaborative, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to anticipate project needs and proactively move projects forward.
Experience mentoring junior designers by reviewing work, providing guidance, and fostering professional growth.
SCHEDULE, WORK LOCATION, AND BENEFITS
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position requiring residency in the greater Austin, TX area. Office presence is required a minimum of four days a week, with other days allowing work-from-home and periodic remote work outside the region. Client schedules, site visits, and unforeseen meeting changes may necessitate flexibility in the week-to-week schedule.
